چکیده
Deformation-induced twinning has been a notable example of overcoming the strength/ductility trade-off dilemma as strengthening mechanism. By borrowing this concept from area TWIP steels, we designed thermomechanical treatment for CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy to improve its mechanical characteristics. We used pre-straining at 77 K introduce deformation-induced twins in microstructure alloy, and then recovered it by annealing 773 K, while avoiding recrystallization. The generated were retained after heat treatment, whilst partial recovery dislocations occurred. As result, room-temperature properties including strain hardening ability, improved substantially.

Effect of one-step recrystallization on the grain boundary evolution of CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy and its subsystems.
In this study, the grain boundary evolution of equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi, CoCrFeNi, and FeCoNi alloys after one-step recrystallization were investigated. The special boundary fraction and twin density of these alloys were evaluated by electron backscatter diffraction analysis. Among the three alloys tested, FeCoNi exhibited the highest special boundary fraction and twin density after one-step recry...
متن کاملPolymorphism in a high-entropy alloy
Polymorphism, which describes the occurrence of different lattice structures in a crystalline material, is a critical phenomenon in materials science and condensed matter physics. Recently, configuration disorder was compositionally engineered into single lattices, leading to the discovery of high-entropy alloys and high-entropy oxides. For these novel entropy-stabilized forms of crystalline ma...
متن کاملEvolution of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a CoCrFeMnNi High-Entropy Alloy during High-Pressure Torsion at Room and Cryogenic Temperatures
High-pressure torsion (HPT) is applied to a face-centered cubic CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy at 293 and 77 K. Processing by HPT at 293 K produced a nanostructure consisted of (sub)grains of ~50 nm after a rotation for 180◦. The microstructure evolution is associated with intensive deformation-induced twinning, and substructure development resulted in a gradual microstructure refinement. Deform...
متن کاملCryogenic strength improvement by utilizing room-temperature deformation twinning in a partially recrystallized VCrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy
The excellent cryogenic tensile properties of the CrMnFeCoNi alloy are generally caused by deformation twinning, which is difficult to achieve at room temperature because of insufficient stress for twinning. Here, we induced twinning at room temperature to improve the cryogenic tensile properties of the CrMnFeCoNi alloy. Considering grain size effects on the critical stress for twinning, twins ...
متن کاملEBSD Characterization of the Twinning Microstructure in a High-Damping Mn--Cu Alloy
The {101} transformation twinning bands in Mn–Cu alloys are considered to be the dominant microstructural feature contributing to the high damping capacity of the alloys. Because the face-centered-tetragonal (fct) phase of Mn–Cu alloys has an axis ratio ðc=aÞ of nearly 1, an angular resolution for Kikuchi diffraction bands of better than 0.5 is necessary to identify the twin boundaries by the e...
